Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Town of Huachuca City is expected to receive approximately $480,000 in FY 2020 federal CDBG funds. A hearing will be held at the regular Town Council meeting on May 14, 2020, at 7:00 pm, to receive public comment and discuss the potential CDBG projects. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting will be livestreamed from the library. Members of the public may attend the meeting by going to https://www.facebook.com/HuachucaCityAZ. Members of the public wishing to make a public comment on potential CDBG projects may do so by calling 520-597-7217. It is expected that the Town Council will select the final project (only one is allowed) at this hearing and adopt appropriate resolutions. The potential CDBG projects are named and described as follows:

2. Water system
3. Drainage
4. Road improvements
5. Community facility improvements
6. Youth facility
7. Fire hydrants
8. Temporary transitional housing
9. Park improvements
10. Make pool year round
11. Solar cover for pool
12. Walking paths
13. Outdoor exercise circuit
14. Green house
15. Facility improvement of energy/water efficiency
16. Head start
17. Boys/girls club
18. House rehab

COVID-19 Proclamation 2020-03

Mayor Wallace, in accordance with Governor Ducey’s amended Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected order, has issued COVID-19 Proclamation 2020-03 which directs staff to begin the process of a phased reopening of the Town’s facilities and public amenities. The proclamation is effective immediately. Key points include:

-Allowing dine-in service to resume in restaurants, as long as they are able to assure the health and safety of the public through physical distancing policies and limiting the number of diners, and following the protocols as directed by CDC, US Department of Labor and the AZDHS.
– Direction to the Town Manager to begin re-opening the administrative building (Town Hall) using a phased approach.
– Direction to the Director of Community, Library & Senior Services to begin a phased re-opening of such services.
– Ordering the reopening of Town park amenities.

Mayor Wallace also respectfully requests that all local businesses, residents and visitors continue to adhere to the CDC’s guidelines through the implementation of social distancing, limiting the size of groups and following all other prescribed measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Huachuca City Welcomes a New Town Manager

The Town of Huachuca City is pleased to welcome our new Town Manager, Philip Cushman. Mr. Cushman assumed the position on April 13th. As Town Manager, Mr. Cushman is responsible for coordinating Town Staff to accomplish Town Council’s policy objectives and financial goals. He is also assuming the duties of Economic Development and is very interested in hearing ideas from residents and business owners on how we can get the businesses re-opened on Huachuca Boulevard. The Emergency Food Assistance Program

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona will be making TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program) distributions in front of the Senior Center at 504 N. Gonzales Blvd on Friday, April 17, from 8 am to 9 am. It will be a drive-thru food distribution.  Cars should line up on Gonzales Blvd facing south. Future distributions will take place on the 3rd Friday of each month. To apply for an emergency food box, please bring photo ID, proof of address, and the names and birth dates of your household members. Please also remember that you may only receive a TEFAP distribution once per month, regardless of where you receive it. To be eligible to receive TEFAP, you must meet federal income guidelines.
