The Town recently suffered a water main break. After effecting repairs, the hydrants were flushed several times and chlorine was added to the system. At least one resident noticed grit and an oily residue in his water, but it is not uncommon for some grit to get into the lines when repair work is done. Later it was determined that there was another resident who had issues with his water; he reported a black substance. Public Works checked it out and determined it was likely a problem with the holding tank. They flushed and sterilized the tank. We believe the issue has been resolved, but residents are urged to check their filters and aerators and other equipment, such as water softeners, to determine if grit or any other substance got into the lines. It would be a good idea to throw out any ice that was made in the last 10 days. If you notice any substances in your lines, please flush your system. If it doesn’t resolve, please call Town Hall at 520-456-1354 to report it.
As always, we appreciate your patience with periodic maintenance and repairs to the system, as well as your feedback.
