Notice Of Intent To Adopt New Fees For Providing Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Outside The Town’s Corporate Limits

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT NEW FEES FOR PROVIDING FIRE, RESCUE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES OUTSIDE THE TOWN’S CORPORATE LIMITS

The Town of Huachuca City, pursuant to A.R.S. 9-499.15, hereby provides notice that the Town Council will consider adopting new fees for providing fire, rescue and emergency medical services outside the Town’s corporate limits.

The Town Council will consider this matter on June 8, 2017, at its regular meeting at 7:00 p.m., in the Council’s meeting chamber, at 500 N Gonzales Blvd., Huachuca City, Arizona. This meeting is open to the public, and members of the public may comment on this matter, pro or con, during the “call to the public” at the beginning of the meeting.

The Fire Chief recommends these fees be adopted to recover costs of providing services outside the Town’s corporate limits, and to avoid having the Town’s residents subsidize services that may be provided to non-taxpayers. Pursuant to A.R.S. sections 9-500.20 and 28-677 (C), and Town Code section 2.65.070 (B), the Town Council may adopt fire department fee schedules to recover the costs of providing emergency response, standby charges, fees for fire cause determination or any other fee that may be required or appropriate to provide services outside of the Town’s corporate limits.

The Fire Chief has reviewed the costs of operating and maintaining the preparedness of the Fire Department, as well as the average costs of the various types of responses the Fire Department might make outside the Town’s corporate limits. As a result of this review, the Fire Chief has determined that the proposed fees are necessary, proper and consistent with the actual costs of providing the services.

This notice shall be posted on the Town’s website homepage by April 10, 2017, through June 8, 2017.
