05-11-2017 Council Meeting

The Town Council will be holding their regularly scheduled meeting at 7:00 PM in council chambers located at 500 Gonzales Blvd in Huachuca City.

Agenda items include:

-Resolution to allow Cox Communications out of their franchise agreement
-Discussion/announcment of a public hearing to be held 25 May 2017 with respect to the Town’s General Development Plan
-Body Cameras for the police department
-Nominations and/or appointments of representatives to the Upper San Pedro Partnership

As always, members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.

05-02-2017 Council Workshop

The Town Council of the Town of Huachuca City will be having a workshop on May 02, 2017 at 6:30pm in Council Chambers.

04/29/2017 – 108 Navajo Structure Fire

Re: Structure Fire 4/29/2017

On the evening of Saturday, April 29th, A call was received by the Huachuca City Dispatchers office at 6:10PM regarding a Structure on fire in lower Huachuca City. The fire department was on scene by 6:13PM.

The structure located at 108 Navajo was a total loss. A neighboring structure received minimal damage from the fire. The fire is currently under investigation. All residents of 108 Navajo were unharmed.

The structure did reignite early Sunday morning. The Huachuca City Fire Department and the Huachuca City Police Department were on scene quickly to extinguish the blaze.

Huachuca City Fire Department were assisted by Whetstone fire department and Fry fire district, as well as the Huachuca City Police Department.

Additional information regarding the fire will be released as it becomes available.

-Approving funding for and allowing Century Link to upgrade the 911 system, at no cost to the city
-Ordinance for cost recovery when the fire department provides services outside of the town’s jurisdiction
-Presentation by our financial auditors on the FY 2016/2017 budget

04/25/2017 – Structure Fires on Second and Third Streets, Huachuca City

Re: Structure Fires on Second and Third Streets, Huachuca City

Huachuca City Dispatch received multiple calls beginning at 4:48pm regarding a house fire at 112 Second Street. The Huachuca City Fire Department was dispatched at 4:50pm and arrived on scene by 4:55pm. Due to high winds, three other structures quickly became involved. The cause of the fire is unknown and is currently under investigation.

One structure was a total loss, the three remaining structures suffered varying degrees of damage.

The remains of one person and two dogs were recovered from one of the structures. No positive identification has been made at this time. Identification is pending examination by the Pima County Medical Examiner.

Units from the Huachuca City Fire Department, Whetstone Fire Department, Fort Huachuca Fire Department and Sierra Vista Fire Department responded, along with Fire Investigators from Cochise County and Fry Fire Department. They were supported by the Huachuca City Police Department, the Tombstone Marchall’s Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

There is no further information at this time. Information will be forthcoming.
